Ana has high school star
quality: brains (advanced-placement courses this year in chemistry,
computer science, U.S. history, calculus, physics and English,
plus courses in robotics and independent study of math); cover-girl
looks (she does fashion-show modeling); and an outgoing personality.
She has choreographed the |
|
school's Cinco de Mayo program, writes for the
magnet paper, is in the League of United Latin American Citizens
and Pan American Student Forum clubs and is vice president of
the National Honor Society.
I'm always ready for new things,"
she says. She loves to dance and write, especially poetry,
and enjoys live theater. |
|
She says her supportive
family helps her weather negativity. "People have
told me, 'Oh, you're Hispanic, you won't succeed.' That
just pushes me even more."
Up next year: seven advanced-placement
courses, plus studio art class. After that, she's
considering Stanford or MIT and graduate research overseas. |
